Rest & Celebrate the 4th , July 4
What does a Great Race team do on its one
day off?
Fortunately, we didn't have to spend the
day replacing a transmission or engine, so we slept in
(luxury!).
We did have some tasks to perform. This
is laundry day for the Greatracers and their crew, and
we had all of the local facilities filled up. We also went
out and developed a performance chart for high altitude
running, as well as clock some speeds for uphill and downhill
in preparation for the next few days. Many top teams were
out practicing, checking their carb rejetting and performance
variance. You can check your time loss on any stretch of
road with any fixed reference points. First drive through
at 50 and record the elapsed time, then you can do a 'stop & go',
50-0-50, or a turn, 50-15-50. This gives you valid time
loss figures.
Then, the Rover got a good underside cleaning
at the local quarter car wash. A Disco II was there too
(lots of them around here).

Wash day! Two Land Rovers getting a good scrubbing by two
ladies. Our support crew cleaning crew, Laura G., washes
our Landie while by happenstance a local resident cleans
her near new Disco II.
We also had a Series rig come
by for a visit and a photo session. Then this evening
we had a hosted BBQ dinner and were treated to a major
fireworks display.
So, enough of the fun stuff. The game starts
up again tomorrow, and who knows what else is waiting down
the road...
