Watch Doug, our Land Rover Master Technician, take you step-by-step in the removal and installation of the Transmission Filter and Pan Conversion Kit on a 2005-2009 LR3. Using kit # ATFCK, this is an easy change filter conversion kit for all Rovers using ZF 6HP Automatic Transmission. This kit is for the LR3, LR4, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover L322 models (see fitment years.) Installing the original factory filter change and pan kit is a very lengthy process. The original sump and filter are normally one piece and fitting involves jacking the engine up and unbolting the mounts, plus, the removal of the exhaust. These new kits have a two-part filter and pan design, which makes installation much easier. Doug will also address replacement of the Automatic Transmission Valve Body Sleeve part number TZV500010G which has a tendency to leak. It is recommended that this sleeve be replaced while you have the pan down. This service is recommended to be performed every 50,000 to 70,000 miles to ensure optimum performance.

Highly recommend using a 24 mm socket on a short swivel at the end of a long torque wrench or breaker bar to press this in place. The socket will push on the stronger inner collar evenly instead of the thinner outer flange which can crack with too much pressure on one spot. Mark the inner tab position on the outside of the sleeve so you can see that it is at the 6 oclock position. Gently pressing sleeve into position with your fingers while rotating it allows you to feel when it registers in the correct position. Carefully prying out the original sleeve allows you to transfer the new o-rings to it if you happen to break the new sleeve on installation.

Definitely a bit of a pain to get in there. Got it out easy enough, followed the video instructions. But, getting it in was tougher. Made sure it was seated, didn't want to that the white tab because it is plastic, but, making sure it was seated, the white tab did take a bit of a carefully planned bop to get it to click into place.

Went in easy and worked great. The old one wasn't leaking but since I was doing a transmission maintenance kit I went ahead and replaced it.
